What role will virtual reality play in the future of work? Founders and CEOs explore the potential

LONDON, January 15 2021 - The Supper Club, a membership community of inspirational founders and CEOs, will host its first-ever event held entirely in Virtual Reality (VR), showing the game-changing possibilities for remote working in 2021.

The “Experience the Future: VR for Business” event will be hosted on Jan. 22 in partnership with Supper Club member Nathan Robinson, CEO of The Leadership Network – award-winning VR learning company and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) for Facebook Inc.’s Oculus for Business platform.

With a third nationwide lockdown in place and around 1.7 million people working from home in the U.K, business executives are facing significant pressures to find remote working solutions that go beyond Zoom calls and directly address productivity concerns and feelings of isolation. Further pressures brought on by Brexit also mean UK companies will be looking for ways to reduce their reliance on travel and office work.

As the world continues to deal with the pandemic, companies are realising the benefits of using VR through hosting meetings, conferences and training people remotely, and doing so better, faster and cheaper. VR use within businesses is forecasted to continue to grow up to £3.12 billion in 2023, according to ARtillery Intelligence and a PwC report last year predicted that nearly 23.5 million jobs worldwide would be using VR to meet and train remotely by 2030.

The event will be held exclusively in the Gemba VR platform, where host Nathan Robinson will show fellow Supper Club members how they can leverage the virtual world to communicate and collaborate in the post-Covid, post-Brexit world.

“We all must adapt and innovate if we are to stay ahead of the game,” said Nathan. “What we hope to show is how VR can enhance every industry, every workplace and create economic opportunity like never before.”

Each member will have an Oculus Quest 2 VR headset delivered to their doorstep, enabling them to join the discussion from the comfort of their homes. When putting their headsets on, members will be transported to the immersive Gemba world. They will get to see powerful use cases for VR in the workplace as they gather in the auditorium and take part in a collaborative workshop to experience the capabilities of VR for themselves.

“Supper Club members are always looking to innovate. We are here to prepare them for the reality of today’s remote working” said Oliver Lingwood-Craddock, CEO of The Supper Club. “With the Gemba VR platform enabling this event, we are showing them what the future of work looks like - today, and the possibilities that it brings.”
