Biography

Rudy Gort is author of the bestselling book ‘Lean vertaald naar projecten: samen leren bouwen aan innovatievermogen’, which translates as ‘Lean Translated for Projects: Learn to Build Innovation Together.’

Gort was trained by Toyota Netherlands. His book and Lean philosophy is the result of 15 years working in project-driven organisations, including Information technology company, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), the Municipality of Zaanstad and Dutch construction company, Heembouw.

Rudy has an MSc. in Building Technology and an MBA focusing on Lean & Sustainability. He is chairman of the Dutch Lean Construction Network and guest lecturer at Delft University of Technology, University of Twente, and many Universities of Applied Sciences.

Gort is an expert in creating Lean programmes in project-driven organisations. Over the last decade he has developed and implemented Lean Construction projects from concept to completion.

Rudy has succeeded in making Lean understandable, by using easily intelligible metaphors and translating arcane language and concepts into a digestible and actionable process taking a 5-step, long-term approach starting with purpose.
Specialist areas include inculcating a Lean philosophy (including Lean concepts, and Lean methods) in an all-encompassing culture of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE).

This proven methodology improves processes and ultimately delivers high quality buildings, faster and at lower cost, while increasing worker safety and motivation. Results at Heembouw: 40% faster, 100% on time, 100% within budget, 0 punch-list items, 7.8 for customer satisfaction, 7.7 for employee satisfaction.
